Study challenges South Sudan civil war death toll

South Sudan has been a byword for disaster since it achieved independence in 2011 - but to what extent may have been hugely underestimated.

A new study by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine puts the death toll at more than 382,000 - nearly 330,000 more than the official UN estimate.

The lead epidemologist Francesco Checchi explains how they gathered the data.
