Remembering Tony Hancock's links to the Royal County

If you were to list Berkshire's comedy connections then Ricky Gervais will most-likely appear top of the list.

But did you know one of the country's comedy legends spent some time here?

Tony Hancock was educated at Bradfield College. Last month a commemorative plaque was unveiled there on the 50th anniversary of his death.

Performing at the dedicated Hancock event at Bradfield College last month was the impressionist, James Hurn.

James Hurn, Impressionist:

[In voice of Tony Hancock]

"Well I would say he's one of these people that we want to live up to, especially if you're looking to do comedy. He was a fabulous man you see.

[In own voice]
"I suppose I just listened to him a lot, and when I was a kid and a teenager I used to watch everything to do with comedy. Kenneth Williams was in the Carry On films and everything like that...then I got onto Hancock.

"It is so colourful, his voice."
