"Brahms鈥檚 sunny Second Symphony, whose lyrical, pastoral spirit harks back to Beethoven's own 鈥楶astoral鈥� Symphony (No. 6).
This symphony was written in the space of one summer in 1877 in P枚rtschach am W枚rthersee, in contrast, his first symphony took 15 years to complete. "
