An introduction to traditional Japanese Gagaku music
Ensemble Reigakusha joined us in the Music Planet studio to perform and talk about the traditional Japanese court music Gagaku - the world's oldest orchestral music still being performed today. Group member Naoko Miyamaru talks us through Gagaku and the instruments used (translation by Midori Komachi). Part of a special Night Blossoms edition on 27 April 2018.
Ensemble Reigakusha perform at the British Museum as part of 'Europe and the world: a symphony of cultures' a festival organised by the British Museum and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and made possible by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
