Tory MP: PM is clear on no customs union
Conservative MP John Whittingdale has told The Westminster Hour the Prime Minister has been "absolutely clear and consistent" that the UK will be leaving the customs union and "not continuing as part of a customs union". The Brexit-supporting former Culture Secretary told Carolyn Quinn: "Where I think the pressure will come is when the EU Withdrawal Bill returns to the House of Commons from the House of Lords. We don't know how many more amendments will be passed in the House of Lords. The Government will need to reverse those in the House of Commons and that may be more challenging, but at the end of the day the Government's position has been absolutely clear and I hope my colleagues will continue to support it."
