Irish ambassador questions border technology
Ireland's ambassador to the UK has said that the EU is sceptical about the idea of a technological solution to the Irish border question. Adrian O'Neill told The Westminster Hour: "At best maybe they can mitigate the degree of disruption that might be caused at a border, but in terms of avoiding a hard border I think there鈥檚 a lot of scepticism around as to whether that can be achieved." Talking to Carolyn Quinn, he also said the EU's response to a Salisbury-style attack in the UK could be different after Brexit and questioned whether Leave supporters understand the extent to which avoiding a hard border is an "existential issue" on the island of Ireland.
