School boys in skirts and trouser-wearing girls?
Liberal Democrats want the government to back a policy of a joint uniform for boys and girls, meaning all pupils can wear trousers or skirts.
Layla Moran MP, who speaks for the Lib Dems on education, spoke up for it in a Daily Politics debate, but was not supported by Ella Whelan, who writes for the website Spiked, and said it was "adults putting adult-concerns to to children".
Former Tory frontbencher Theresa Villiers said it was up to schools to set their own uniform policy, but there were "far more important things" to consider in education.
