Abigail from Manchester is this week's castaway and she's a freelance curator, and the co-founder of Manchester Digital Music Archive. She's also a DJ, and she sent us tracks by artists such as Etta James, Doris and Sisters of Transistors for her Desert Island Disco set-list this week.

When putting together this selection of tracks for her Desert Island Disco she told us that: 鈥淚n Manchester there are many - too frequently overlooked - women, who have shaped our city's many and varied music scenes. These include venue managers, sound engineers and record label owners as well as DJs, vocalists and musicians.

These tracks reflect some of those brilliant women: vocalists, musician, DJs, producers. Many of the tracks (whilst not all made in Manchester), have become Manchester Dance Floor Anthems played regularly by influential women DJs such as DJ Paulette and Kath McDermott (Flesh at Ha莽ienda), Philippa Jarman (Homo Electric/Piccadilly Records), Danielle Moore (Crazy P/El Diablo's Social Club), Julie Wills (Disco Mums) and also by me during my seven years as a (slightly inebriated) bar DJ and record shop till monkey.鈥�
