The Greatest Showman

The Greatest Showman
The Greatest Showman has done great business at the cinema, but were you aware of its links to Malvern?

Jenny Lind, one of the main characters in the story, saw out her final days at the foot of the hills and even staged her last performance at the town's spa.
听听
Jenny grew up in the early nineteenth century, entering the Royal Theatre School in Stockholm at the age of 9, quickly becoming one of the country鈥檚 prominent vocalists, enjoying success all over Europe.

鈥淛enny Lind fever鈥 swept the West End - with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert regular members of her audience - with clothes, hats, cigars (and even a train), named after her.

She was a philanthropist, raising money for hospitals in her native Sweden and, among others, The Worcester Royal Infirmary.

She often sang at Little Malvern Church, below British Camp, where she stayed until her death in 1883.

She is buried in the Great Malvern Cemetery and her Malvern residence, at Wynd鈥檚 Point, is owned and looked after by the Cadbury Trust.

Robert Plant

Robert Plant
Kidderminster鈥檚 Robert Plant has been in at 91热爆 Hereford & Worcester talking about his remarkable career, living in the States and his love for Worcestershire.

The 69-year-old frontman of Led Zeppelin has been performing in rock bands for over 50 years, since cutting his teeth at venues such as and听.

Live music: Sam Ostler

Live music: Sam Ostler
A Redditch musician has just come back from a 17-date tour with sixties鈥 chart-toppers The Stylistics.

Sam Ostler, whose influences include The Beatles, Elton John, U2 and Coldplay, performed in front of 30,000 people up and down the UK including a headline show at the 02 Arena in London.

Sam鈥檚 now had every track from his 2 EPs played on the 91热爆 鈥 and joined us for a live session at the Boar鈥檚 Head in Kidderminster a couple of years ago.

Judas Priest tour

Judas Priest tour
In America, they鈥檙e are regarded as one of the biggest and most influential rock groups in history but, despite selling more than 50 million albums, here in the UK they鈥檝e never quite enjoyed the same success.

Next week Judas Priest, who formed almost 50 years ago, release their latest album 'Firepower', recorded at the Old Smithy studios in Kempsey.

They鈥檙e also getting ready for an upcoming world tour but, sadly, without founder member and Great Witley resident Glenn Tipton, who's suffering from Parkinson's.听

Live music: Will Hunt

Live music: Will Hunt
His dad was in ELO/Wizzard and cousin fronted the Wonderstuff - this week we hear from Bromsgrove musician Will Hunt.

Will鈥檚 had an illustrious career - having been signed to a major record label, performed at Glastonbury at a dance musician, but has now turned his hand to writing acoustic folk melodies.

He joined us our 91热爆 Music Introducing stage at the Hay Festival performing a song that would later go on to be our Track of the Week.
