100 Years of Women: Performing Arts

We are searching for the most influential woman of the past 100 years.

100 years ago, the Representation of the People Act of 1918 gave some women the vote for the first time and paved the way for the introduction of universal suffrage 10 years later. It was a significant victory following years of campaigning. To mark the centenary, the Today Programme is asking expert guests from different fields to give us their nominations for the most influential British woman of the century - and you can vote for a winner on our programme on February the 6th. This podcast is looking at the performing arts.

We decided to do this extra discussion to ensure we covered through our nominations the broad range of performing arts and music. As a result of the extra category, the final vote will be on a shortlist of 12 rather than the 10 originally planned.
