The world, as seen by a horse
New research from the University of Exeter helps us understand how horses see the world.
Horses and humans don't see the world in the same way. Whilst the human eye can see a full range of colours, horses only see in a pallet of blues and yellows.
According to new research from the University of Exeter, that means they are unable to see orange - the traditional colour of most fences and hurdles in horse racing.
The finding has prompted horse racing organisations to consider whether they should break with tradition, by painting fences a colour that horses can see more easily.
