Nichole Bowen-Crawford, a former US soldier, says that when she was sexually assaulted in Iraq in 2003, she was advised not to report it. Since leaving the military, however, she has been speaking out about what happened to her because she hopes that her story will help inspire change.

The Department of Defense has said that it has "zero tolerance" for sexual assault or harassment.
