Mark Clattenburg reveals studying team tactics helps referees during a match
Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has revealed that top refs study team tactics to prepare for matches.
Clattenburg, who quit the English top flight earlier this year to take up a role in Saudi Arabia, said that the way teams play influences referees, including their on field positioning.
Clattenburg spoke about preparing for the Manchester derby, where Jose Mourinho accused Manchester City of tactical fouling in the lead up to the game.
