The V&A is launching an exhibition on opera throughout the centuries

The Victoria and Albert museum will open an exhibition titled Passion, Power and Politics 鈥� tracing the story of opera through four centuries in collaboration with the Royal Opera House and the 91热爆.

Today's special correspondent Jim Naughtie looks back at its history.
