Rohingya crisis: Aung San Suu Kyi's dilemma

British foreign minister says Aung San Suu Kyi is in a 'difficult position'

The foreign office minister Mark Field was the first politician to meet Aung San Suu Kyi from outside Myanmar since the Rohingya crisis began.

Ms Suu Kyi, whose position as state counsellor does not give her authority over the military, has faced international criticism for her failure to speak out against alleged human rights abuses including mass killings and the burning of villages.

Mark Field told Nick Robinson that Ms Suu Kyi is in a "difficult position" between international criticism and public opinion in Burma.
