Saint-Saens’ Swan as you’ve never heard it before!

Seeming to magic music out of thin air, a theremin player never touches the instrument.

One of the earliest electronic instruments, its modernity seemed to chime with the post-revolutionary utopian ideals of Russia in the early 1920s.

It’s played here by Peter Theremin, great-grandson of its inventor, Lev Theremin.
