Fleeing Florida state to escape Hurricane Irma - James from Cardiff
More than 6 million homes have been left without power in the wake of Hurricane Irma across the state of Florida. The islands of the Florida keys were hit the hardest, with some now warning of a humanitarian crisis.
Six million people in Florida were told to evacuate before Irma arrived.
James Connors, originally from Cardiff, lives in Fort Lauderdale near Miami, and fled north over the state border into Georgia to try and escape the hurricane. He described the situation and why they took the course of action they did.
