Former Crystal Palace striker Ian Wright says the players could have worked harder after the Eagles sacked manager Frank de Boer.

The former Ajax and Inter Milan boss managed just 77 days in charge and was dismissed on Monday after losing all four of his Premier League matches.

"The way they played against Burnley is the way they should鈥檝e started the season," says Wright. "You don鈥檛 need to wait until your manager is under pressure, or you are playing at a great stadium like Anfield to put in a shift."

And Wright says changing the manager may not result in improved performances at Selhurst Park, adding: "You鈥檝e got Pardew, you鈥檝e got Allardyce, and now you鈥檝e got De Boer. You鈥檝e got the same players. They players have to look at themselves."
