Suffragette statue: Who should stand in Westminster?

Which suffragette deserves a permanent statue – Fawcett or Pankhurst?

In the lead up to the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote, there is a debate as to which woman is more deserving of a statue in Westminster - Emmeline Pankhurst or her lesser known contemporary Millicent Fawcett.

Fawcett worked within the law and championed universal suffrage whereas Pankhurst encouraged direct action and violence which generated lots of publicity.

Caroline Criado-Perez, writer, feminist and lead campaigner for the Fawcett statue, and Gail Heath, chief executive of the Pankhurst centre in Manchester, discuss the impact that both women made.
