The future of the Fire & Rescue Service
An independent report says the county could benefit if the Fire Service was managed by the PCC rather than the County Council... but says there are significant risks.
Police and Crime Commissioner Martin Surl is calling on Gloucestershire County Council to put past differences behind them and work together to improve community safety.
An independent report, published today, says the county could benefit if the Fire Service was managed by Mr Surl - rather than the County Council.
The report says there are opportunities for the police and fire service to share buildings to improve safety and accountability.
But there are also a significant number of risks - including a lack of support by councillors and costs.
