The 1947 Partition separated families across India and the newly formed Pakistan. Ram Kaur, a Sikh woman was separated from her family and left behind in the majority Muslim country. Three years later she found love with a Muslim man. She got married after converting to Islam and became Sikander Bi.
However their lives then changed forever. An exchange programme in early 1950 was set up to repatriate women that had been left on both sides of the newly formed borders and Sikander was forced to return to India.
