A recently retired senior judge has warned over the lack of safeguards in powers of attorney. He said the Ministry of Justice in the UK has been "disingenuous" in promoting them and the public should be more aware of the risks of attorneyship.

Our correspondent Sanchia Berg reports on a case where a Dunkirk veteran, with early stage dementia, gave his neighbour power of attorney.

Retired senior judge Denzil Lush said he had greater confidence in deputyship - when the court appoints someone to manage your property and affairs.
