Remembering Partition: Meeting the son of my grandfather's killer
Pakistan today celebrates its 70th year of independence from British rule. Back in 1947 Britain divided the subcontinent into Hindu majority India and Muslim majority Pakistan.
There was great violence in the course of the split and Owen Bennett Jones has been hearing the story of Salman Rashid, a historian in Pakistan who decided to trace his relatives who had gone missing during partition. He discusses the time he met the son of the man who murdered his grandfather and other relatives.
