With western Mosul recently liberated from the control of the so-called Islamic State, coalition forces are pushing onward into IS held areas.
A team of Iraqi and international experts and academics are drawing up plans to rebuild Mosul. The battle for the city was hard fought and bloody, lasting for nine months and leaving many of the city's residential districts heavily damaged, if not completely flattened.
Dr Marino Andolina, an Italian pediatrician, has recorded an audio diary from his latest mission to treat sick and injured children in West Mosul. Stephen O鈥橞rien, the UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, says the most important thing at the moment is to "get the humanitarian needs met".
