US v UK food standards: A culture war?

A new report says imported food could threaten farm animal welfare standards post-Brexit

Cheap imported food could threaten farm animal welfare standards after Brexit according to a Lords report out today. Liam Fox who is in the US for trade talks said there's particular concern from campaigners around food imports.

The 91热爆鈥檚 North America correspondent Aleem Maqbool reports. Lord Kerbs, a member of the EU Energy and Environment Sub-Committee and former chair of the Food Standards Agency, says the "concern" is that we cannot have it both ways - keeping our high welfare standards and creating trade deals with the US.

Chris Davies, Conservative MP who campaigned for Brexit, says British people do not want "chlorine-flushed chicken" and Tim Lang, professor of food policy at City University London, says this will create a "fight of a food culture".
