New hope for refugees on Greek island
Accommodation and residency for Syrian families who are prepared to work and integrate
On one little known island called Tilos, officials have been actively trying to attract refugees. They offer accommodation and potential residency for Syrian families who are prepared to work and integrate, despite more than 10,000 migrants still being held in refugee camps across Greece.
One refugee turned baker says he left Syria headed to Germany: "I had to research Tilos on the internet before settling down here."
Another, working as a house keeper in a local hotel, says she spoke no Greek when she arrived and now she is almost fluent.
