Swimming East: Peaty & Co target Tokyo
Exclusive access to world record holder swimmer Adam Peaty, and the GB swimming squad, training in Thailand and exploring the 2020 Olympic city Tokyo for the first time.
World record holder Adam Peaty has won every major swimming title, but Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth gold medals are not enough.
In the post Michael Phelps era, 22-year-old Peaty is now aiming to become the sport’s leading name and cement his legacy with sustained success.
91Èȱ¬ Sport’s Nick Hope joins the swimmer and his team-mates as they take the first step towards the Tokyo Olympic Games – heading to Thailand for an intense training camp, before visiting the 2020 host city for the first time.
The programme explores how British swimmers achieved their best Olympic medal haul in the pool for 108 years at Rio 2016 and investigates the importance of the squad’s sport science setup in creating a new generation of world beaters.
This exclusive access also shows the progress of some of Peaty’s established team-mates, like fellow Olympic medallist Siobhan Marie-O’Connor and Scotland’s Hannah Miley, ahead of their bid for World Championship honours in Budapest this summer.
