What you should know about Facebook 'likes'
A Swiss court has fined a man more than 4000 US dollars for "liking" comments deemed defamatory on Facebook. The court ruled that by "liking" the comments, the man had disseminated them to his list of Facebook contacts, and so had "made them accessible to a large number of people". Paul Blanchard runs a Public Relations agency in London and looks after the reputation of a number of high-profile clients across a range of media, including online platforms such as Facebook. He explains why we should be careful when we use the 'like' button and react to a post.
