Frome hoard voted 'nation's best'
Metal detectorist Dave Crisp discovered a hoard of Roman coins in a field in Frome back in 2010.
That find has just been voted the nation's favouritein a poll by The Telegraph and The British Muesum.
Dave, from Devizes, says "it feels great and i'm very pleased. I was pleased to start with that the experts put it in the top 20 at the British Muesum but to win has sent me over the moon."
He was sweeping the field having already found a few Roman siliquas. He tried to find more, got a signal, dug down and hit the top of the pot containing the 50,000 coins.
