The new leader of Dorset County Council says she wants the authority to continue to "adapt and be flexible to change".
Rebecca Knox, councillor for Beaminster, was appointed as council leader yesterday.
The Conservative group leader takes over from Robert Gould - who lost his seat in the recent local election.
