Would you tell your boss if you had mental health issues?
A ComRes survey for 91热爆 Radio 5 live suggests that around half of people would not be happy to speak up at work if they had a mental health problem.
The survey, of 1,104 British adults in full-time and part-time employment, found 49% would be unlikely to tell their boss about problems such as anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder. Only 35% said they would be happy to tell colleagues.
As a student, Oliver Thompson-Smith was mugged and stabbed on his way home from a night out. He developed PTSD.
Later, whilst working for a construction firm, he tried to take his own life. He thought he would "be fired" from work, but said his company's "supportive" attitude helped him progress.
Details of organisations offering information and support with mental health are available at bbc.co.uk/actionline, or you can call for free, at any time to hear recorded information on 08000 839 839.
