Videos posted online showed a man, who appears to be Asian, being forcibly dragged from his window seat by security officers. The way in which he was removed from an overbooked United Airlines flight has provoked outrage online. Many people on social media in China are claiming the man was taken off the flight because of his ethnicity.

The CEO Oscar Munoz has apologised on behalf of United Airlines for having to re-accommodate customers but said the man was being 'disruptive and belligerent'.
