Savage: I regretted wanting team-mate to miss chance in semi-final
Robbie Savage admits he wanted team-mate Morten Gamst Pederson to miss a chance for Blackburn in the 2007 FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea.
The former Rovers captain was dreading the thought of missing out on a potential final due to a broken leg sustained at Watford earlier in the 2006/07 season.
Savage said: 鈥淭here was a point in that game, extra time, the ball was in the air, Morten Gamst Pedersen, back post, he had to score, last minute, it was the 119th minute of the game, 120 minutes obviously with extra time.
If he scores Blackburn would have been in the final and I remember that ball going over and I was in my head thinking: 鈥楶lease don鈥檛 score.
鈥淲hen he missed I remember inside I was so delighted, but then we lost... and to see the lads afterwards I felt such an idiot."
