Trump will 'solve' North Korea without China

Donald Trump: 'If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will.'

President Donald Trump has said the United States will "solve" the nuclear threat from North Korea, with or without China's help.

"If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will. That is all I am telling you," he said in an interview with the Financial Times.

Lionel Barber, editor of the FT, carried out the interview. He said there's a range of options being considered to solve the threat.

Christopher Hill, former US ambassador to South Korea and assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, says the options to solve the threat "aren't attractive and are fraught with danger".
