Henry Sandon, the man whose teatime tales have become the stuff of legend, spoke to us while filming Antiques Roadshow at Caversham Park last summer.

He has been a porcelain expert on the programme since 1979.

"There's nice things; I found Ozzy the Owl, which ended up being worth 拢20,000. The old lady went absolutely berserk, I thought we would have the first death on the programme".

"But I've been caught out with 'gotcha oscars'. I had to identifty this pot, and got hauled away to meet a Chief Detective Superintendent".

"I had to go back and keep him talking and find out all I could about it, and then eventually I was interrupted by a policeman, who arrested the fellow, he knocked the pot on the floor, and it smashed".

"They had switched it while I was away, the real one was worth around 拢15,000, and the policeman was Noel Edmonds. I was stitched up, I was a damn fool".
