Council leader "yards away" from London attack
Chris Millar, the leader of Daventry District Council, says he was "only yards away" from the terror attack in Westminster on Wednesday.
He said that he arrived at Westminster at about 14:30 to meet the Daventry MP Chris Heaton-Harris, and was in the security hub when the attack happened.
Mr Millar said: "You could tell something was wrong because everyone was moving wildly, then moments later you heard three [gun] shots."
He said those that had gone through security into New Palace Yard "were ushered back in". He said he "didn't know what was going on" and was "told not to go outside".
Mr Millar ended up being locked in Parliament for five hours. For a while they "didn't know what was happening" but said "the police and the security service were absolutely fantastic".
