Politics and the America Dream

Author and art historian Simon Schama discusses artistic interpretations of the idea

The American Dream is an idea that artists have portrayed and parodied over the decades.

How have cultural and artistic interpretations of the American Dream changed over time, and what does that say about the US at different points in history?

These are some of the questions being looked at in a series of talks at the British Museum as part of a new exhibition.

Author and art historian Simon Schama, who is hosting a lecture on Friday evening, tells Nick Robinson about some interpretations of the American Dream throughout history.
