The Conservative Party and election expenses
The Electoral Commission boss and Oliver Letwin talk about the Conservative Party fine
The Conservative Party has been fined 拢70,000 for breaching election expenses rules. It is the biggest fine ever imposed by the Electoral Commission, which found that the party had failed to report accurately the amount of money it spent on campaigning in 2014 and 2015.
Claire Bassett, chief executive of the Electoral Commission, explains exactly what the fine was for.
The Conservative MP and former minister, Sir Oliver Letwin, admits human errors were made but "it doesn't mean that there's some vast criminal conspiracy going on".
