Why does Mars in particular pique our curiosity? Psychologists have found that we鈥檙e most curious when we know something about a subject, but not too much. It鈥檚 the known unknown 鈥� the gap in our knowledge. It鈥檚 called the information gap theory of curiosity. The man behind it is Professor George Loewenstein of Carnegie-Mellon University.
