"Bye Bye" to the school lollipop lady?

Wokingham Borough Council are considering cutting lollipop patrols across eight difference sites in the area, but why?

Malcolm Richards, Executive Member for Highways and Transport:

"We've looking at the effectiveness of the pedestrian crossings as a proven and safe way of crossing the road. And the pedestrian crossings at those eight sights already give those children's a safe place to cross.

"It is looking at the most effective use of our budget.

"As I'm sure you know, local authorities nationally are facing difficulties. By July of this year those particular crossing patrollers (lollipop people) would not be necessary."
