Orient winding up order 'expected': Lockwood
Ex-Leyton Orient captain Matt Lockwood says the club's current situation is 'scandalous' as they are issued with a winding up order from HM Revenue and Customs.
"I think it was expected that this day was coming - Orient fans have been preparing themselves for the worst, but it was inevitable with this guy [Francesco Becchetti] in charge.
"It's scandalous how poorly run that club has been... it's scary how the heart has been ripped out of it in the last two-and-a-half years.
"Ultimately we need the current owners to depart. [Administration] might be the best thing that ever happens to Orient, to get the current owner out. Yes you're going to get relegated but you can start afresh and build up again.
"I think whatever steps need to be taken to get the current owners out of the club would be a step forward, even if it looked on paper like it would be two steps backwards".
