Science has a 'reproducibility crisis'

Up to 90% of researchers have failed to reproduce other scientist鈥檚 experiments

Science is facing a 鈥渞eproducibility crisis鈥 whereby between 65% and 90% of researchers have tried and failed to reproduce another scientist鈥檚 experiments. This is frustrating clinicians and drug developers who want solid foundations of pre-clinical research to build upon.

We have a report from our science editor Tom Feilden, and Professor Mark Walport, the government鈥檚 chief scientific adviser and chief executive designate of UK Research and Innovation, says we pay "too much attention to the latest (scientific) finding" and not to the big picture.
