Her Majesty the Queen makes history with 65 years on the throne
The Queen makes history once again when she reaches her Sapphire Jubilee - becoming the first British monarch to have reigned for 65 years.
Her Majesty came to the throne following the death of her father, King George the Sixth, which was announced on this day back in 1952.
Christopher Warwick, Royal Commentator from Sunninghill:
"She always keeps this day quiet for the simple reason because it also represents the day her father died.
"It's not necessarily one to get out the processions, it's a historic milestone though because no British monarch has ever achieved 65 years on the throne.
"The Sapphire Jubilee is more a Sapphire anniversary."
