Chickens and other poultry will have to stay indoors for another two months. DEFRA initially imposed restrictions on 6th December - after a first case of the avian flu, H5N8. The order was meant to finish tomorrow - but it has been extended, after 18 cases were reported in the UK.
In Gloucestershire - Slimbridge has confirmed 4 cases of the virus which were found in dead birds on site. Officials have stressed the strain of the avian flu is NOT one that can be passed onto humans.
