Asian Network Presents: Karisma Kapoor, Episode 1 of 2
First of a two-part programme to mark her 25 years on-screen. Karisma chooses the songs that helped make her a popular actress.
Hailing from Indian cinema's first family, the Kapoors, Karisma was the first female to break from family tradition and enter the industry in 1991 with the movie Prem Qaidi. The daughter of actor and director Randhir Kapoor and actress Babita, Karisma was an instant hit with audiences who fell for her innocent on-screen persona.
Karisma's career really took off when she teamed up with dancing machine Govinda and director David Dhawan, spawning comedy hits like Raja Babu, Coolie No1 and Hero No1.
Karisma talks about the early days of her career, how she was affected by the death of her friend and fellow actress Divya Bharti, and about THAT kiss in the movie Raja Hindustani.
