Celebrating 30 years of World Heritage Site status
Crowds gathered this weekend at Avebury in Wiltshire to celebrate 30 years of World Heritage Site status.
The prehistoric site was added to the World Heritage Site List by UNESCO, alongside near neighbouring Stonehenge, in November 1986 for its Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments dating back over 5000 years.
Chair of the World Heritage Site Partnership Panel, Alistair Sommerlad, unveiled the plaque at an event at Avebury at the weekend.
