Are parents to blame for obesity amongst young children?
New figures show a record number of children are leaving primary school overweight or obese. That's ten and eleven year olds but even children as young as four and five are eating more than they should. Food is a big part of Asian culture but the food isn't always the healthiest. There's a lot of fried food, ghee and sweet treats. At Diwali, you eat mithai, when someone in your family has a baby you eat ladoos and at weddings you can expect a feast! Do parents need to address the harm they are doing to their children by overfeeding them or not controlling their intake? Where does the blame lie? Parents, children themselves or is our society so focused on food we don't see the harm of over eating? Four callers share their views with Nihal.
