The quarter of Millionka is located in the heart of the Russian city of Vladivostok.

Founded in the 1870s, it is one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods and was once Vladivostok’s Chinatown.

It was famous for its intricate alleyways and jumble of buildings, but by the time of the Russian revolution it was severely overcrowded.

In 1936 Soviet leader Joseph Stalin ordered the area to be emptied and deported the Chinese residents who called it home.

Many of the original buildings have been destroyed but the district is being revived with cafes and tours which introduce visitors to the area’s past.
