'Not even Pete knew who Pete was'
Music producer Pete Waterman has paid tribute to singer Pete Burns, who died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 57.
Pete Burns rose to fame as the lead singer of the band ‘Dead or Alive’, who reached number one in the UK with their best known hit ‘You Spin Me Round’ in 1985, produced by Waterman.
Burns had appeared on a number of reality shows including Celebrity Big Brother, during which politician George Galloway described him as a “cross between Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker”.
Waterman said this description was “bang on”.
“I don’t even think Pete knew who Pete was: I don’t think he wanted to, he was always looking to do something different, he always wanted to shock,” he told 5 live.
