An 11-year-old boy is recovering after he was hit in the head by a glass bottle thrown by a fan during the league cup semi-final match between Celtic and Rangers.

Rangers fan Kraig Mackay needed seven stitches in his head after being hit by a beer bottle while walking with his family to the ground.

Kraig鈥檚 dad, Gary, described the incident as 鈥渦nreal鈥� and said the atmosphere at games is 鈥渃razy鈥�.

鈥淚t鈥檚 inevitable that something like that is going to happen,鈥� he added.

Police are investigating the incident, which they describe as 鈥渁bhorrent鈥�.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton said Kraig would join the club as the mascot at Ibrox on Wednesday night and watch the game from the directors' box.
