Bottle attack on young Rangers fan ‘inevitable’
An 11-year-old boy is recovering after he was hit in the head by a glass bottle thrown by a fan during the league cup semi-final match between Celtic and Rangers.
Rangers fan Kraig Mackay needed seven stitches in his head after being hit by a beer bottle while walking with his family to the ground.
Kraig’s dad, Gary, described the incident as “unreal” and said the atmosphere at games is “crazy”.
“It’s inevitable that something like that is going to happen,” he added.
Police are investigating the incident, which they describe as “abhorrent”.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton said Kraig would join the club as the mascot at Ibrox on Wednesday night and watch the game from the directors' box.
